Dear Memphis World Trade Clubs
Members and Friends,
October is upon us, and with Fall and Football comes our annual
gala, International Trade Night featuring the Port of New Orleans. This year's theme is Jazz. It's shaping up to be a great night at the Peabody on October
24th. You won't want to miss it! However, you must be a member to reserve a
table. If you haven't renewed your
membership, or you're not a member you can do so using our website,
memphisworldtradeclub.com. Just follow
the prompts and be sure to mail your application or renewal to the PO box
listed.
We are especially pleased to welcome back to the gala,
employees of the Port
of New Orleans. I'm sure we have all followed the
tremendous struggle the city and people of New Orleans
have been through in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Let's all make them feel welcome and thank
them again for sponsoring the cocktail hour featuring that great New Orleans shrimp.
On a personal note, I want to thank Ben Jabbour and Steve
Tuttle for putting together a great trip to New Orleans
last month. I also want to thank in
advance, Karen Hjerpe, for all her hard work on International Trade
Night. We are all looking forward to a
great night -- Don't miss it. See you
at "Port Night".

MWTC Board Positions
We will hold our Board
ballot elections this November by mail.
At Port Night later this month we will announce and introduce our
candidates to the dinner guests. If
you ever thought about running for the Board, are willing to put in the time,
and bring a positive attitude along with some fresh ideas, we would love to
have you. You must be a member to
run. Please contact Carey Treadwell,

Membership Renewals &
Updated Member Contact Information
Historically there is a mad rush just before Port Night to
renew memberships. Thank you for your kind attention and renewals. Please consider an early membership renewal
which will balance out the volunteer workload on the Board members and
friends of the club that coordinate the membership process.
Please also ensure the club has several ways to contact
you. We maintain this data
confidentially and would for example only try a backup personal e-mail or
home number ONLY to reach you if you were no longer at a former company. If you switch jobs and we don’t know about
it, your club e-mail or faxes will keep going to the old location in our
database and your listing becomes stale.
Then there is no other way to let you know about our meetings and
news. Much like a continuous bond, YOU
are the club member and we want your membership to stay active, even if you
switch companies.
Volunteer to help with Club Events
Our Club’s success depends on your involvement. You are the Club. If you are
interested in assisting with various Club events throughout the year, such as
the golf tourney, the New Orleans train trip, Port Night, etc., then please
contact Jim Woods, Club President. Contact Jim

About The Memphis World Trade Club
We are one of the largest
International Trade Clubs in the southeast part of the United States. Founded in 1947, the Memphis World Trade
Club boasts a membership close to 300, with events that bring together over

is to promote participation and growth in international trade, and to provide
a medium in which to exchange information and ideas in an international
networking environment.
We are the key
organization in our region to meet importers and exporters, ocean carriers,
railroads, truckers, airlines, customs house brokers and forwarders, port
representatives, international bankers, and more.
We are proud of our
partnership with the Memphis Regional Chamber of Commerce, and equally proud
to support the dynamic distribution and logistics industry located in and
