BNSF Expansion
“We are excited that
BNSF is expanding its infrastructure of the Memphis railway system.” Said Jim Woods. “The Memphis World Trade Club is pleased to
welcome BNSF Railway’s Richard Nevins as our March 21st speaker”.
The BNSF said, "Memphis
plays a key role in facilitating the movement of these goods from the U.S.
West Coast ports to destination markets in the southeast. Shipments of consumer goods on rail are
surging. In fact, the movement of consumer goods through rail intermodal
shipping has experience a compound annual growth rate of more than 7 percent
over last five years.” The BNSF went
on to say, “This growth is driven by changes in international trade, the
desire of our domestic truckload industry to use the nation’s rail network
and the ability of rail to close the gap between over-the-road and rail
intermodal prices."
Woods added, “BNSF has
played an integral part in intermodal transportation for years. We expect their being a service provider of
the highest caliber to continue.”

Membership Renewals &
Updated Member Contact Information
Historically there is
a mad rush just before Port Night to renew memberships. Thank you for your
kind attention and renewals. Please
consider an early membership renewal which will balance out the volunteer
workload on the Board members and friends of the club that coordinate the
membership process.
Please also ensure the
club has several ways to contact you.
We maintain this data confidentially and would for example only try a
backup personal e-mail or home number ONLY to reach you if you were no longer
at a former company. If you switch
jobs and we don’t know about it, your club e-mail or faxes will keep going to
the old location in our database and your listing becomes stale. Then there is no other way to let you know
about our meetings and news. Much like
a continuous bond, YOU are the club member and we want you to stay actively involved,
even if you switch companies.
